Week 7 – Internal organs start forming
Welcome to week 7 of your pregnancy! Your baby looks like a little bean. This week most of the development occurs in your baby’s head. The brain continues to grow and along with it your baby’s eyes and nose become more prominent.
So, let’s summarize the main events that you will see in this week
Along with the changes occurring in the baby’s head (eyes, nose, and brain)– the mouth also starts forming.
Your little one now sprouts limbs that are slightly webbed. They look like tiny flippers during this phase
Additionally, the transformation of the excretory system, by the development of the kidneys, prepares the waste management system of the baby.
The liver is now producing red blood cells and later this task is taken over by the bone marrow once it is fully developed.
The baby in this week has an appendix and a pancreas. The digestive system also now comes to sight.
The baby has a tiny tailbone – but worry not, it will shortly disappear!
Developmental Milestones Summary:
Your baby has now doubled in size since last week. You can still see the tailbone, which will soon disappear. Arms and legs start forming and there is development of the excretory system.
You can see your baby growing within the gestational sac, with the developing arms and legs. The facial changes and the neural tube can also be seen. Towards the end of the week.
