Week 27– Brain grooves and channels!
Your baby along with growing big is also growing smart. We have brain activities to prove it. The little one now weighs 725 grams and is the size of a lettuce. The baby continues with the kicking and punching and it may be more at certain intervals.
So, let’s summarize the main events that you will see this week:
The brain and nervous system develop at a fast pace and controls the organs and bodily activities. Characteristic grooves or channels on the surface of the brain is formed this week
The baby’s lungs are quite mature by this week (still breathes amniotic fluid in and out).
The baby would have an 85- 90% chance of survival if it were to be born this week.
The baby’s heartbeat is quite strong and can be heard by your partner on placing his ear on your belly.
The baby has fat deposited under its skin and is now plumper and more human-like. Also, the baby opens and closes his eyes and can respond to your interactions by blinking.
Developmental Milestones Summary:
The brain has grooves and channels being developed on its surface. Along with this growth and development of all the organs occur at a rapid rate.
The baby’s movements can be seen this week, with the baby either kicking, blinking, yawning or doing nothing at all. The baby seems longer and stretched out than compared to last week.
The baby now measures 14 ½ inches from crown to rump (CRL).
